A Message from Our Principal

Jennifer Kennedy
Principal
As both a parent and an educator at APA, I bring a deeply personal and professional connection to the life of our school. With a child who has grown up here at APA, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication, passion, and care that our staff and faculty pour into each day.
As both a parent and an educator at APA, I bring a deeply personal and professional connection to the life of our school. With a child who has grown up here at APA, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication, passion, and care that our staff and faculty pour into each day. This is a place where children feel safe to explore who they are, pursue their interests, and grow with confidence. I have seen my own child inspired in remarkable ways: academically, athletically, artistically, and socially. I know that this growth is rooted in the strength and warmth of the APA community.
“APA is more than a school. It is a place where children are supported, challenged, and celebrated.”
What Sets APA Apart
We recognize that not all students learn the same way. Our intimate environment allows teachers to better understand each student's learning style, strengths, and needs.
“Every student should have the opportunity to learn at a pace and in an environment that helps them thrive.”
Reasonable classroom sizes allow for meaningful teacher-student attention and a more personal school experience.
Teachers work closely with students and families to support progress, whether a child needs extra guidance or greater academic challenge.
APA provides superior academic programming that prepares students for future studies and for life.
Students grow in a vibrant, supportive, and fun-loving atmosphere where they are valued as part of the APA community.
Rooted in Purpose
APA reflects decades of steady leadership, care, and a belief that learning should feel meaningful, balanced, and connected.

Aurora Preparatory Academy, originally Foundations Private School, began in 1979 as a small, one-room schoolhouse where each child could learn at his or her own pace. From the beginning, the school valued a setting where diversity was recognized and celebrated.
As the school grew, its facilities improved and technology became part of the classroom, but much of that original sentiment remained. APA continues to value the personalized approach that has made the school such a meaningful part of the private school landscape.
Aurora Preparatory Academy provides an unparalleled educational experience for children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, offering an environment in which they are challenged, encouraged, and guided.
Our students are well-prepared for future studies and for life, set to become academically successful and socially responsible.
APA balances academic pursuits, athletic participation, artistic expression, and community service to provide a well-rounded, engaging, and comprehensive education.
Academics
APA offers a balanced academic program, combining core classroom instruction with enrichment opportunities, skill development, and steady preparation for future studies.

Students build a strong foundation across language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and age-appropriate academic skills, with instruction designed to support comprehension, confidence, and steady growth.

Small class sizes allow teachers to better understand each student's strengths, learning style, and areas for growth. Students receive guidance and encouragement designed to help them progress with confidence.

Technology is used thoughtfully to support research, communication, digital literacy, and classroom learning, helping students build practical skills in a supervised academic environment.

French and music begin in Junior Kindergarten, giving students early opportunities to explore language, culture, creativity, performance, and self-expression as part of a well-rounded education.
